Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the temporary road closure of Sussex Street, Sydney, between Bathurst and Liverpool Streets (four lanes), on Sunday 22 July 2018 from 2am to 8pm, subject to the following conditions:

(A)      The Applicant must comply with the temporary road closure conditions as mentioned in Schedule B of this agenda.

(B)      The Applicant must comply with any other conditions imposed by City’s Construction Regulation Unit.

(C)      The Applicant has indicated the Sunday 29 July and Sunday 5 August 2018 as contingency dates.

(D)      The Applicant must contact the Sydney City PAC to discuss deployment of user pay police for the road closure.

(E)      The Applicant is to obtain a Road Occupancy Licence from the Transport Management Centre prior to commencement of works.

(F)       The Applicant must provide a telephone number of the supervisor responsible for the proposed [choose an item] and include contact details in the notification letters to be distributed to affected stakeholders.

(G)      If the above closure dates conflict with any works associated with the CBD and South East Light Rail (CSELR) project, Sydney City Centre Access Strategy (SCCAS) or any other major works or special events, they may be changed to new dates in consultation with the TMC and Sydney City Police.

Background

At the 17 May 2018 meeting of the Local Pedestrian, Cycling and Traffic Calming Committee (LPCTCC), the Committee endorsed the temporary road closure of Sussex Street, between Bathurst and Liverpool Streets, Sydney, on Sunday 8 July 2018 from 2am to 8pm and the alternative date as 22 July 2018.

The Applicant has advised that the temporary road closure could not be carried out on the approved and alternative dates.  As such, the Applicant is seeking approval for the temporary road closure to be rescheduled to Sunday 22 July 2018 from 2am to 8pm and alternative dates to Sunday 29 July and Sunday 5 August 2018.
