Decision
The Committee carried the recommendation unanimously.
Background
The Lachlan Precinct is bound by Bourke Street, Lachlan Street, South Dowling Street and O'Dea Avenue. The precinct forms part of the Green Square urban renewal area, will include a new two-way road that will provide access into the precinct from O'Dea Avenue. The road, known as "Reed Street", will be delivered in sections by the developers of adjacent sites.
The Masterplan for the Lachlan Precinct includes the
restriction of all non-signalised intersections into the precinct to left-in
left-out, including Reed Street. As such, it is proposed to provide an
extension to the existing central median island in O'Dea Avenue to restrict
vehicle movements into the new section of Reed Street to left turns only.
