Background

The Australian Hotel has applied for the temporary footpath closure of Cumberland and Gloucester Streets, The Rocks, and detour of pedestrian access for ANZAC Day 2021 on Sunday, 25 April 2021, from 7am to 12am.

In 2017, 2018 and 2019 The Australian Hotel has submitted for a Special Event Clearway and a temporary lane closure of the southbound lane on Cumberland Street for Anzac Day and increased trade which comes particularly from the activities and parade in the CBD. Due to health restrictions, The Australian Hotel is only applying for a footpath closure of eastern side footpath of Cumberland St north from the YHA to the pedestrian crossing near SHB access, which is approximately 85 metres.

PMNSW is requesting the LPCTCC endorsement to close the Cumberland St eastern side footpath area from 0700 until 00:00 on Sunday 25th April 2021

The Rocks hotels and restaurants have been put forward as the initial priority focus to extended trading to meet objectives by State Government for jobs creation and the economy recovery.

The Hotel will trade for breakfast from 07:00, alcohol served from 08:00 until 00:00

2 x Traffic Controllers on site from 0630 until 00:30

1 x Traffic Controller Supervisor from 06:30 until 00:30.
