Advice
The Committee unanimously supported the recommendation.
Background
On 15 November 2018, the Committee endorsed the provision of a raised pedestrian crossing on Portman Street as part of a suite of streetscape improvements along Portman Street. On 2 February 2021, the City held a community meeting with residents about ongoing changes related to the development of Green Square Town Centre. At the meeting residents requested the relocation of the previously endorsed crossing to the south, where the street is narrower, to provide additional parking along Portman Street.
On 16 July 2020, the Committee also endorsed a proposal for
a new shared path, named Frog Park Lane connecting Portman Street to Elizabeth
Street. The relocation of the pedestrian crossing would align with the
pedestrian desire line along the new path.
