Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the following conversion of parking on the western side of 100 - 106 George Street, The Rocks, south of Hickson Rd as:

(A)      No Stopping between 0 metres and 8 metres.

(B)      'Loading Zone 5am - 6pm Mon - Fri, 5am - 10am Sat between the points 8 metres & 31 meters.

(C)      2P Parking 6pm-10pm Mon – Sat, 8am - 10pm Sun & Public Holiday between the points 8 metres & 31 meters.

(D)      Taxi Zone 24/7 between 31metres and 68 metres.

(E)      Install a ticketless parking meter 22 metres south of Hickson Rd.

Background

Place Management NSW (PMNSW) has requested endorsement for the converting of parking outside of 100 -106 George St, The Rocks to extend loading zone hours in the area by replacing the unused 'bus zone' (STA previous use) with a Loading Zone and metered parking after hours and weekends for venues in the area.

The proposed location is currently unused, un-metered and prone to misuse by vehicles and businesses. The proposed changes will increase loading zone operations and late-night parking opportunities for stakeholders, visitors and businesses including The Rocks Markets, Rydges Hotel and the Overseas Passenger Terminal in the area therefore improving the customer experience.
