It is recommended that the Committee endorse the installation of speed cushions in Clara Street, Erskineville, at 5 metres north of Ethel Street.

Background

The City is currently reviewing the playground on the median island in Ethel Street, Erskineville.

Ethel Street is a Shared Zone to provide a safe area around the playground. However, residents have requested additional traffic calming measures in Clara Street, on the approach to Ethel Street (and near the playground) to reinforce the existing 10km/h speed zone. The proposed speed cushions would improve safety and reduce vehicle speed turning into Ethel Street.
