Decisions:

Surry Hills Police

Surry Hills Police advised the Committee of an incident involving a cyclist riding downhill, in an easterly direction on Devonshire Street, beside the northern kerb alignment, on approach to the Violet Street intersection.  The cyclist lost control upon hitting the road surface near a hydrant on the road, and then collided with a light rail vehicle, also travelling east bound, adjacent to the cyclist.

The Police requested that Council undertake an examination of the suitability of the road surface around the hydrant, and drainage grates, to ensure safety of cyclists along Devonshire Street, Surry Hills.

This matter was sent to the City’s Maintenance Team for investigation.

The Representative for the Member for Balmain

The Representative for the Member for Balmain raised drainage concerns on the grades on the footways in the vicinity of Capital Square west-bound Light Rail shelter and generally within the City of Sydney area, in particularly Glebe, where the streets have low points and form puddles when it rains.

The City will undertake an investigation.

The Representative for the Member for Sydney and Newtown

The Representative for the Member for Newtown submitted a Petition regarding the Waterloo Estate (South) Plan.
