Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the proposed six-month trial of the following parking reallocation in Forbes Street and Bourke Street in Darlinghurst:

(A)      Western side of Forbes Street, between the points 10 metres and 25.2 metres, south of St Peters Street as "Bus Zone 7.30-9am 2.30-4pm School Days" and "No Parking 9am-2.30pm 4-6pm School Days Buses Excepted";

(B)      Western side of Forbes Street, between the points 39 metres and 61.5 metres, south of St Peters Street as "Bus Zone 7.30-9am 2.30-4pm School Days" and "1P 9am-2.30pm Mon-Fri";

(C)      Western side of Forbes Street, between the points 61.5 metres and 77.5 metres and between the points 85.2 metres and 97.5 metres, south of St Peters Street as "No Parking 7.30-9am 2.30-3.30pm School Days" and "1P 9am-2.30pm Mon-Fri"

(D)      Eastern side of Forbes Street, between the points 16.6 metres and 22.6 metres, north of Clapton Place as "No Stopping";

(E)      Eastern side of Forbes Street, between the points 22.6 metres and 29.1 metres, north of Clapton Place as "No Parking Authorised Car Share Vehicles Excepted";

(F)       Eastern side of Bourke Street, between the points 192 metres and 204 metres, south of St Peters Street as "No Parking 7.30-9.30am 2.30-3.30pm School Days", "1P 9.30am-2.30pm" and "1P 3.30pm-Midnight Mon-Fri 8am-Midnight Sat-Sun Permit Holders Excepted Area 17".

Background

The City received representations about traffic and parking issues in Forbes Street and Bourke Street, Darlinghurst during school afternoon pick-up. The Sydney Church of England Girls’ Grammar School (SCEGGS) and City staff investigated the concerns and recommended to trial the proposed parking changes in Forbes and Bourke Streets for a period of six months.
