Advice
The Committee unanimously supported the recommendation to install ”No Parking” restrictions instead of the proposed
“No Stopping”. The City to investigate installation of
parking bays and opportunities to maximise the number of parking spaces.
Background
In early 2024, The City sent letters consulting local residents about a proposal to introduce “No Stopping” restrictions in William Street, Redfern to assist pedestrian access to a particular residential property.
Subsequently, the City has received similar requests from other residents of Willian Street to also improve access to their properties. Therefore, in August 2024, the City sent a final letter inviting any other residents to nominate if they would like the City to remove parking in front of their property to improve access.
Consequently, the City received
responses from three further residents and has prepared a final plan to install
No Stopping in William Street to enable them to access their front gate.
