Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the following reallocation of parking on the eastern side of Castlereagh Street, Sydney south of Market Street:

(A)      Between the points 127.2 metres and 135.2 metres (one car space) as "Bus Lane 3pm-8pm Mon-Fri" and "No Parking All Other Times"; and

(B)      Between the points 135.2 metres and 140 metres as "Bus Lane 3pm-8pm Mon-Fri", "Loading Zone Ticket 6am-3pm Mon-Fri 6am-6pm Sat" and "4P Ticket 8pm-Midnight Mon-Fri 6pm-Midnight Sat 8am-Midnight Sun & Public Holidays".

Background

In April 2023, parking in Castlereagh Street between Market and Park Streets was changed during the construction of the Castlereagh Street cycleway. The LPCTCC endorsed these parking changes at its meeting on 15 September 2022. The parking changes included reallocating parking in Castlereagh Street next to the driveway from to the Sheraton Hotel's and Tattersalls Building's loading dock to loading zone and coach parking.

Due to the presence of the cycleway and parking near the driveway, large delivery vehicles are unable to exit the driveway safely without encroaching onto the cycleway. To improve access for these delivery vehicles, it is proposed to reallocate parking next to the driveway to "No Parking".
