The Committee noted the recommendation unanimously.
Background
In October 2009, the Committee endorsed the timed
closure of Angel Place, Sydney, from George Street to the point 85 metres east
of George Street, between midnight and 10am.
The City of Sydney on behalf of Transport for NSW, proposes
to permanently close Angel Place, between George and Ash Streets, to eliminate
conflicts with the CBD and South East Light Rail. The permanent road closure to
vehicular traffic will also improve pedestrian safety and accessibility and
enhance the local amenity.
