(i) during the AIDS pandemic of the 1980s and 1990s, and in the period since, millions of lives were lost in Australia and around the world from HIV related illnesses. (iii) the proposed location at Green Park close to St Vincent’s Hospital where many people with HIV and AIDS were cared for, is of special significance, as it was a place where many sought comfort and reflection during difficult times;
(B) note and receive the petition of 1,332 citizens requesting that Council support an AIDS Memorial and place of remembrance in Green Park, Darlinghurst as proposed in the petition and supporting documents; and
(C) request that the Chief Executive Officer investigate this proposal.
