Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the installation of the following changes in Redfern:

(A)       The installation of Shared Zone along Caroline Street, Redfern between Louis Street and Eveleigh Street;

(B)       The installation of Continuous Footpath Treatment on Caroline Lane, just south of Caroline Street;

(C)       The reallocation of kerbside restrictions in Caroline Street, Redfern as follows;

·            Northern side, between the points 5.3 metres and 29.9 metres (four car spaces) east of Louis Street as, "1/4P 7am-6pm Mon-Fri, 2P 6pm-10pm Mon-Fri, 8am-10pm Sat-Sun";

·            Southern side, between the points 4.6 metres and 28.9 metres (four car spaces) east of Louis Street as, "1/4P 7am-6pm Mon-Fri, 2P 6pm-10pm Mon-Fri, 8am-10pm Sat-Sun";

·            Southern side, between the points 0 metres and 17.3 metres south of Louis Street, as a yellow "No Stopping" line.

(D)       The allocation of kerbside restrictions in Caroline Lane, Redfern as yellow "No Stopping" line as follows:

·            Western side, between the points 0 metres and 14.3 metres south of Caroline Street;

·            Northern side, between the points 0 metres and 7.3 metres east of Caroline Lane;

·            Eastern end of the lane, between the points 0 metres and 2.6 metres;

·            Eastern Side, between the points 2.6 metres and 14.1 metres, south of Caroline Street.

Background

The Development Consent for 77-123 Eveleigh Street, Redfern (SSD8135) requires the Applicant to provide traffic calming measures and submit a signage plan for kerbside parking and line marking arrangements in Eveleigh, Caroline, Vine and Louis Streets that is to be referred to the Local Pedestrian, Cycling and Traffic Calming Committee for consideration and endorsement.

The Applicant also required to extend Caroline Lane to connect with Caroline Street. At the completion of the works, the extension of Caroline Lane will be dedicated to the City.
