Minute by the Lord Mayor

To Council:

I wish to inform Council about the success of our Chief Executive Officer, Monica Barone, and the City of Sydney in the 2020 Ministers’ Awards for Women in Local Government.

Monica is the winner of the Champion of Change Award and the City of Sydney is the winner of the Employment Diversity Award.

The Champion of Change Award recognises a General Manager or senior manager who has excelled in supporting and encouraging women's participation at their Council.

The Employment Diversity Award recognises a successful council program to increase female participation in senior leadership roles or at the elected representative level. This recognises the City’s role as a leader in the Australian public and private sectors for gender equity.

Due to the impact of Covid-19 plans to present the 2020 Awards at ceremony at Parliament House will not proceed. A video awards ceremony will be held to formally recognise Award winners and nominees.

I am sure all Councillors will want to join with me in congratulating Monica Barone and City staff on receiving these awards.

Recommendation

It is resolved that Council congratulate the Chief Executive Officer and City of Sydney staff on their success at the 2020 Ministers’ Awards for Women in Local Government.

That the Minute by the Lord Mayor be endorsed and adopted.
