Surry
Hills Police
Surry Hills Police
advised the Committee of an incident involving a cyclist riding downhill, in an easterly direction on
Devonshire Street, beside the northern kerb alignment, on approach to the
Violet Street intersection. The cyclist
lost control upon hitting the road surface near a hydrant on the road, and then
collided with a light rail vehicle, also travelling east bound, adjacent to the
cyclist.
The Police requested
that Council undertake an examination of the suitability of the road surface
around the hydrant, and drainage grates, to ensure safety of cyclists along
Devonshire Street, Surry Hills.
This matter was sent
to the City’s Maintenance Team for investigation.
