Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the following traffic treatments in Glebe:

(A)      Upgrade the existing raised pedestrian crossing in Wentworth Park Road north of St Johns Road;

(B)      Upgrade the existing raised pedestrian crossing in Wentworth Park Road west of Cowper Street;

(C)      Installation of a raised pedestrian crossing in St Johns Road, west of Wentworth Park Road;

(D)      Installation of a continuous footpath treatment across Cardigan Street, just west of Wentworth Park Road and "Give Way" sign facing Cardigan Street;

(E)      Installation of a continuous footpath treatment across Lyndhurst Street, just west of Wentworth Park Road and "Give Way" sign facing Lyndhurst Street;

(F)       Installation of a continuous footpath treatment across Mitchell Street, just west of Wentworth Park Road;

(G)      Installation of a continuous footpath treatment across Mitchell Lane, just south of Wentworth Park Road and "Stop" sign facing Mitchell Lane;

(H)      Installation of a continuous footpath treatment across Cowper Street, just south of Wentworth Park Road;

(I)        Install painted median and right turn bay on Wentworth Park Road at Mitchell Street.

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the following reallocation parking in Wentworth Park Road, Glebe

(J)       (J) On the western side between the points 5 metres and 7.5 metres north of Lyndhurst Street as "No Stopping";

(K)      (K) On the eastern side between the points 18 metres and 26 metres north of St Johns Road as "2P Ticket 8am-6pm Mon-Fri" and "4P Ticket 6pm-10pm Mon-Fri";

(L)       (L) On the western side between the points 10 metres and 25 metres south of St Johns Road as "2P Ticket 8am-6pm Mon-Fri Permit Holders Excepted Area G" & "4P Ticket 6pm-10pm Mon-Fri Permit Holders Excepted Area G" ;

(M)      (M) On the western side between the points 8 metres and 16 metres north of Mitchell Street as "No Stopping";

(N)      On the eastern side between the points 0 metres and 12 metres north of Mitchell Street as "No Stopping"; and

(O)      (O) On the eastern side between the points 10 metres and 23 metres south of Cowper Street as "No Parking 6pm-11.30pm Wentworth Park Race Night" and "2P Ticket 8am-6pm Mon-Fri".

Background

The City proposes to install continuous footpath treatments, upgrade existing raised crossings and install a new raised crossing on Wentworth Park Road, Glebe and its intersections between Cardigan Street and Cowper Street. The aim of this proposal is to slow vehicle speeds, improve pedestrian safety and accessibility and provide new opportunities for planting.
