Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the installation of the following traffic treatments in Bay Street, Ultimo:

(A)      A marked pedestrian crossing in Bay Street between Queen and Crown Streets;

(B)      Two speed cushions - one on each approach to the proposed pedestrian crossing; and

(C)      Kerb islands on both sides of Bay Street between Queen and Crown Streets.

Background

International Grammar School Sydney has requested pedestrian facilities in Bay Street to improve safety and access for people walking in Bay Street.

To help improve general safety in the area and as part of the City's commitment to calm traffic and improve the local amenity, it is proposed to introduce various traffic treatments in Bay Street between Crown and Queen Streets.
