Emergency Measures to Support Communities and Small Business Impacted by the Spread of COVID-19

Decision:

It is resolved that:

(A)        Council consider a number of emergency measures to support communities and small business who are impacted by the spread of COVID-19;

(B)        the Chief Executive Officer be requested to:

(i)          immediately offer rent relief to small business tenants of the City of Sydney who are impacted by the spread of COVID-19;

(ii)         implement a quick response grant program to assist small businesses who are suffering hardship caused by the spread of the COVID-19 virus;

(iii)        immediately suspend the collection of all fees collected by Council from small businesses, including outdoor dining fees, health inspection fees, fire inspection fees (health and safety compliance inspections should not be suspended); and

(iv)       implement any other measures that the Council considers necessary to support small businesses in the City of Sydney.
