Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the reallocation of parking on the eastern side of Chalmers Street, Surry Hills as follows:

(A)       between the points 8.1 metres and 30.2 metres (4 car spaces) north of Rutland Street, as "Taxi Zone 6pm-6am, Loading Zone Ticket 6am-6pm Mon-Fri, 4P Ticket 8am-6pm Sat-Sun & Public Holidays; and

(B)       between the points 30.2 metres and 71.0 metres (7 car spaces) north of Rutland Street, as "Loading Zone Ticket 6am-6pm Mon-Fri, 4P Ticket 6pm-10pm Mon-Fri, 8am-10pm Sat-Sun & Public Holidays".

Background

The City has undertaken a review of parking on Chalmers Street, Surry Hills from Rutland Street to Devonshire Street following the completion of the light rail.

The light rail project removed over 30 car parking spaces from and around Chalmers, Devonshire, Randle, Buckingham, and Elizabeth Streets which included loading for servicing businesses in the area.
