Advice
This
Item was deferred to investigate an alternative location on the northern side of
Bathurst Street and further consultation with Fire and Rescue NSW and affected
businesses.
Background
Fire and Rescue NSW has
requested consideration of "No Stopping Fire Brigade
Excepted" parking restrictions in Bathurst Street, Sydney to
improve on-street parking for Fire and Rescue
vehicles.
Comments
The kerb space on the southern side of Bathurst Street west of Castlereagh Street and, where the changes are proposed, is currently signposted as "No Stopping".
The approved Castlereagh Street cycleway will result in a loss of three parking spaces for fire brigade vehicles. It is proposed to introduce two parking spaces in Bathurst Street to offset the parking loss.
Consultation
The City consulted local residents and businesses in the area. There were 237 letters sent out with zero responses supporting the proposal and zero responses opposing the proposal.
Financial
Funds are available in the current budget.
