Moved by Councillor Scott, seconded by Councillor Scully –

It is resolved that:

(A)       Council note:

(i)         the passing of John Bernard (Jack) Mundey, former City of Sydney Councillor, environmentalist and union giant, aged 90, on Sunday 10 May 2020;

(ii)        that during its 18 May 2020 meeting, Council acknowledged Mr Mundey’s significant contribution to NSW, including his commitment to public open space, and all present in the meeting held a minute of silence to honour the memory of John Bernard (Jack) Mundey; and

(iii)      that Council resolved to defer the Lease Approval – Part 540 George Street, Sydney, and Stratum Stair Access Town Hall – Woolworths Group Limited, at its May meeting; and

(B)      the Lord Mayor be requested to examine options for the City of Sydney to collaborate with State and Federal governments to fast track Sydney Square, a shovel-ready project that would provide invaluable economic stimulus to Sydney during Covid-19 and grow Sydney’s open and green spaces in the heart of our city’s central business district to support the rejuvenation of Sydney’s CBD.

The motion, as varied by consent, was carried unanimously.
