The Committee unanimously supported the recommendation.
Background
The Australian Government has committed an additional $540 million for a new Road Safety Program. The jointly funded program will also see the NSW government contribute to this program.
The new Road Safety Program builds on the NSW Government’s $258 million investment in its Safer Roads Program in 2020-21 and the Federal contribution of $140M to the Safer Roads program through the Targeted Road Safety Program.
The Road Safety Program funding will prioritise the development and delivery of road safety infrastructure projects across NSW, support jobs and stimulate local economies.
Transport for NSW has confirmed that the City has been
successful in securing funding to raise the marked pedestrian crossing in Carillon
Avenue, west of Western Avenue, by 31 December 2021.
