Recommendation

It is recommended that the Committee support the installation of a Shared Zone in John Street, St James Avenue and Woolley Lane, Glebe.

It is recommended that the Committee endorse the following:

(A)      Continuous footpath treatment in John Street at the intersections with Clare and Woolley Streets;

(B)      Continuous footpath treatment in St James Avenue at the intersection with Hereford Street;

(C)      Continuous footpath treatment in Woolley Lane at the intersection with Woolley Street; and

(D)      Raised thresholds in John Street and St James Avenue.

Background

As part of the redevelopment of St James Park and the John Street Reserve, it is proposed to make John Street, St James Avenue and Woolley Lane, Glebe, a Shared Zone to prioritise access for pedestrians, control vehicle speeds and preserve residential amenity.
